Engineering a self-serve design ecosystem to accelerate multi-channel turnaround by 80%.

Overview

Across high-volume retail and multi-channel marketing campaigns, ad-hoc design requests were routinely built from scratch or cobbled together using un-vetted external templates. This caused severe brand inconsistency and placed an unsustainable burden on the design team. To solve this, I co-developed a centralized, guardrailed Campaign Template Framework using Canva, pairing structured asset libraries with clear operational guidelines to empower both designers and non-designers safely.

The Problem

Repetitive Production Strain: assets were built from scratch for every campaign or hunted across scattered external sites. Brand Compliance Drift: non-designers created graphics to keep up with demand, causing inconsistent quality across locations and channels. Endless Revision Loops: unstructured briefs and rogue creative output created heavy back-and-forth review cycles before assets could be approved.

The Solution

Collaborating with a fellow designer, I engineered an operational template system designed for scale and self-service: guardrailed master templates with locked structural layouts, approved typography scales, and standardized color token zones; pre-approved asset repositories for imagery, logos, and UI elements; operational documentation and playbooks for non-designers; and pre-approved approval chains that baked compliance into the framework from the start.

Impact & Results

Turnaround times for ad-hoc campaign assets dropped from days to hours. Endless revision loops and approval bottlenecks were eliminated because template frameworks were already leadership-approved, limiting edits strictly to copy, photography, and minor text or layout tweaks. The system empowered non-design staff to generate collateral independently while maintaining 100% brand consistency across nationwide channels. Tool stack: Illustrator, Canva, digital asset management, and cross-functional playbooks.
